Our story

How a father and daughter came to run a gallery together

Photography entered Martin Osner’s life in 1984. In the early 1990s he co founded the National College of Photography, and over four decades his own work moved from the camera into paint, texture and mixed media.

His daughter, Samantha Lee Osner, was on her way to university when she sat in on one of his lectures and never left. She assisted on his classes, held her first exhibition, Daydreams, in May 2018, and Martin then asked her to run the gallery with him and show her own work on its walls. Together they opened Osner Gallery in Hout Bay in 2018.

Today the gallery in Hout Bay shows the work of both artists side by side, with a new father and daughter exhibition every November. You can also see our work in Montagu, at Bloupunt Winery.
