Home art consultant, Cape Town
The Osner Home Art Refresh
Walk into your home and feel it is brand new again. Martin Osner and Samantha Lee Osner of Osner Gallery go through every artwork, frame and family photograph you own, show you the new look on your own walls, then reframe, add to and rehang it all for you.

Why it is hard to do yourself
You stop noticing what your own home needs
When you live in a home every day, your eye gets used to it. It is almost as if we live with blinkers on.
Then you come back from a long trip, walk through the door, and suddenly you see all the little things that should have been taken care of. We walk in with fresh eyes and see them straight away.
- That painting really doesn't look good there.
- That frame is damaged and needs to be replaced.
- That piece is skew and needs to be hung properly.
- That glass has a crack in it.
- Those walls have been blank for far too long.
- The colours in this room don't go with what's on the wall.
Before and after
Two rooms in clients' homes, before and after we hung the art

A bare bedroom wall, and the same wall with the art hung.

Bare lounge walls, and the same room with two sets of three artworks.
These two rooms show new art on bare walls. A full Home Art Refresh goes further and works with everything you already own.
We start clean
We look at every picture you own, including those in storage
We take all the art you own and re-evaluate it with you: paintings, family pictures, collages, certificates, and whatever else needs to hang on your walls. Then we propose a complete fresh change, and we keep your wishes and your personality in it.

Rehanging
Your art moved to the walls where it looks its best.
Reframing
Older pieces reframed for a more modern look, in our own workshop.
Art advice
Advice on new pieces where a wall needs something new.
Family pictures and certificates
Photographs, collages and certificates brought together and given a place.
Wall colours
Colours suggested, shown in the mock-up, and given to you as a palette.
Installation
Our team hangs everything, new art and old.
How it works
From your first consultation to the day we hang your art
We take care of everything except the painting.
1A free consultation in your home
This usually takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half. We come to you and get to know you: what you like, what you dislike, and what you want the rooms to say about you. We look through the art you have, take a general brief, and take photographs of the interior for the mock-ups.
2Your proposal, with interior mock-ups
If you decide to go ahead, we quote a fee for the proposal. We then plan what moves, what gets reframed and what new pieces to consider, and show it all in mock-ups of your own rooms, including the wall colours we suggest.
3Your quotation for the whole project
You receive one quotation for the complete project. If you go ahead, the proposal fee is deducted from it.
4Your walls are painted, if needed
We give you the exact colour palette, and you arrange your own painter to do the walls before we install.
5Reframing and new art
We reframe your pieces in our own framing workshop in the gallery building, and bring in any new work you have chosen, or create it for you.
6Installation
Our team brings everything to your home and hangs it all, so the rooms are finished when we leave.
Interior mock-ups
See it on your own walls before anything changes
We don't only make a suggestion, we show you what we are thinking. Your mock-up shows the art, the frames and the wall colours in your own rooms, so you can see how it will work before you commit.

Your taste comes first
Every room needs a theme, and it should be yours
A room has to carry itself, and it has to express the people who live there. We meet you on your level, see what you like and what you don't like, and work around that.

Art collectors
You want to be sure that what you show works in the same space, even when it comes from different artists.

A strong design element
You want one powerful statement, and you prefer that abstract work is brought in.

Bold pop art
You want bold colours and a strong impression, like a comic book on the wall. Shown here: Golden Vision by Martin Osner and Simon Shone.
Art made for your home
When you can't find it, we can create it
Sometimes the best way to go is to make the work. If you have a clear idea of what you like and have been battling to find it, Martin Osner or Samantha Lee Osner can create it for your space.

Who does the work
Two artists, a gallery and a framing workshop in Hout Bay
Osner Gallery is run by two working artists, Martin Osner and Samantha Lee Osner. The framing workshop is in the gallery building and our own team does the hanging, so there is one conversation from the first visit to the last picture on the wall.
“He came through to our apartment and photographed and measured the spaces we were looking to fill... Then his team came out and hung them for us. What a fabulous stress free experience.”— TracyCBD, Tripadvisor review
“The various options we wanted were digitally mocked up for us to make the decision easier, our choices were furthermore installed within days of purchase.”— Heide S, Tripadvisor review

What it costs
A free consultation, then a quote for your home
Every home is different, so we quote once we have seen what we are working with. The first consultation is free, and usually takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
If you decide to go ahead, we quote a fee for your proposal and mock-ups, because a lot of work goes into them. When you go ahead with the project, that fee is deducted from your quotation.
Just one room? We are happy to do a single room. The consultation is still free. We then quote for the proposal and mock-ups, as we do for a whole home. If your room includes a new artwork from us, or the project is large enough, we deduct that fee from your quotation. If not, the fee stands. We will tell you which applies before you pay anything.
There is no travelling cost in the greater Cape Town area, Val de Vie or Pearl Valley. For projects further away, we quote a travelling cost beforehand.
What happens in the free consultation?
We usually spend 45 minutes to an hour and a half in your home getting to know you, your likes and dislikes, and the art you have. We take a general brief, look around the interior and take photographs so we can create mock-ups if you decide to go ahead.
How much does a home art consultant cost?
The first consultation is free. After that, every home is different, so we quote. There is a fee for the proposal and mock-ups, and when you go ahead with the project that fee is deducted from your quotation.
Do I have to buy new art?
No. We start with what you already own, including work in storage. If a wall needs something new, we advise you on new pieces, and the decision is yours.
Can you do something with old family photographs and certificates?
Yes. Family pictures, collages, certificates and anything else that needs to hang are all part of the plan. We reframe and group them so they look as if they belong with the rest of the home.
Can you reframe old art to look more modern?
Yes. Our own framing workshop is in the gallery building in Hout Bay. See framing at Osner Gallery.
Do you help with wall colours?
Yes. We suggest colours and show them to you in the interior mock-up, so you see what we have in mind. We then give you the actual palette. We don't arrange painters: you bring in your own painter before we install.
Can you do just one room?
Yes, we cover whichever rooms and areas you want, from one room to the whole house. The consultation is still free. With a single room, we deduct the proposal fee if the room includes a new artwork from us or the project is large enough. If not, the fee stands, and we will tell you which applies before you pay anything.
Can you create a new artwork for a particular wall?
Yes. If you know what you want and have battled to find it, Martin Osner or Samantha Lee Osner can create it. See art commissions.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover the greater Cape Town area, including Llandudno, Camps Bay, Clifton and Bishopscourt, and Val de Vie and Pearl Valley in the Winelands, with no travelling cost. For projects further away, we quote a travelling cost beforehand.
Do you work with my interior designer?
Yes. We are happy to work with your designer. See art for interior designers.
