The artists
A father and daughter who make the work on the walls
Photography entered Martin Osner’s life unexpectedly in 1984. Four decades on he is a painter, a mixed media artist and a teacher, and the founder of the Art Photography Academy. His daughter, Samantha Lee Osner, works alongside him in all three disciplines, and seven of the works in our Signature Collection are hers.
Because the artists run the gallery, you are not buying from a middleman. You can ask about how a work was made, see it in the light of the room, and have it framed in our own workshop before you take it home.
The Signature Collection
The works collectors come to see
Alongside our three or four exhibitions a year, the ground floor holds the Signature Collection: the works that have gathered a following over many years, and that visitors often ask for by name.
Each one can be seen in person in Hout Bay, and bought in the gallery or online.
The African Queen collection
The Sisters of Eight
Eight portraits of African women painted by Martin Osner, each with her own name and story. Inathi, pictured here, is the firstborn, calm and dignified, carrying the memory of her line. The sisters are among the paintings visitors most often come to the gallery to see.
Seven of the eight sisters have found homes with collectors. One commission remains open, for a collector who would like to complete the family with a portrait of their own.

Taking your artwork home
Every work can be framed in our own workshop at the gallery. We pack smaller works so you can carry them on the plane as hand luggage, and we ship larger pieces door to door anywhere in the world.
