Thandiwe is one of the Sisters of Eight in Martin Osner’s African Queen collection. Her name means beloved, and she carries herself with a quiet, youthful grace.

Martin chose her for this Cabernet Sauvignon because her quiet strength suits a red of structure and elegance.

Where to taste Bloupunt

Taste Bloupunt at Bloupunt Winery, Montagu

Bloupunt is made and poured at Bloupunt Winery in Montagu, on Route 62, where the mountains give way to the Karoo, South Africa’s semi arid desert. You can taste the full range, eat with a view of the mountains, and see original work by Martin Osner and Samantha Lee Osner.

Why the name: the original farm sat tucked into the back corner of Montagu, where the mountains are high, and fell into shadow every afternoon. It became known as Die Blou Punt, Afrikaans for the blue point, and the wine carries the name to celebrate that heritage.

The rest of the collection hangs at Osner Gallery in Hout Bay, twenty minutes from Cape Town. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Sunday by appointment, booked the day before.
