Crisp, unwooded and full of fruit

Fresh, vibrant and expressive, the Bloupunt Chenin Blanc captures the purity of fruit and the untamed spirit of the landscape. Unwooded to preserve its natural character, it opens with bright aromas of tropical fruit, green apple, pear and citrus blossom.

The palate is lively and refreshing, with pineapple, white peach, guava and lemon zest, balanced by a bright natural acidity and subtle minerality. The finish is clean, crisp and endlessly drinkable.

Rooted in Silence by Martin Osner

Rooted in Silence is an original painting in paint and ink on metal. It remembers the lockdown, when a single tree stood untouched outside while everyone stayed in. The red block is the boundary we all lived behind.

Martin chose it for this Chenin Blanc because the painting and the wine share the same quality, a quiet purity that does not need to raise its voice.

Where to taste Bloupunt

Taste Bloupunt at Bloupunt Winery, Montagu

Bloupunt is made and poured at Bloupunt Winery in Montagu, on Route 62, where the mountains give way to the Karoo, South Africa’s semi arid desert. You can taste the full range, eat with a view of the mountains, and see original work by Martin Osner and Samantha Lee Osner.

Why the name: the original farm sat tucked into the back corner of Montagu, where the mountains are high, and fell into shadow every afternoon. It became known as Die Blou Punt, Afrikaans for the blue point, and the wine carries the name to celebrate that heritage.

The rest of the collection hangs at Osner Gallery in Hout Bay, twenty minutes from Cape Town. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Sunday by appointment, booked the day before.
